Cafe Bizarre brings together 10 new paintings and one sculpture created in 2023 in the artists’ studios in Montreal and Ottawa, Canada. Berger’s imagery begins with her archive of vintage pornography magazines, which she mines for visual reference in the women she portrays in her paintings. Rather then render the likenesses of the models in her archive, Berger uses the archive as a source of inspiration for a new cast of characters who embody.
