Embossed Hahnemühle Copperplate

10x10in unframed, 12.5x12.5in framed

Edition of 10 + 2AP

Aaron Pennington’s series Surface Tension series begins with collecting photos of chain link fences from life and from the internet. The artists makes line drawings based on specific fences - often looking for warped, torn, patched, and layered portions. Subtle changes in line weight between drawings is used to achieve hints of illusionistic depth. The final steps of the process involves etching the drawings into zinc plates and running the compositions through a press, embossing the plates onto dampened Hahnemühle Copperplate paper.

Central Server Works debuted the prints at the 2025 Los Angeles Printed Matter Art Book Fair at the Art Center College of Design where Aaron Pennington is an alumni and currently works in the schools print lab where these editions were made.
